Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud
Removal and Installation
All engines
1. Disconnect the battery cables. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.
2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering [1][2]Diagrams.
6.2L engines
3. Detach the power steering fluid cooler hose retainer from the cooling fan motor and shroud.
4. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the power steering fluid reservoir stud bolt.
3.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI), 3.7L and 5.0L engines
5. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the stud bolt on the LH side of the cooling fan motor and shroud.
All engines
6. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the LH side of the cooling fan motor and shroud.
7. Detach the 2 generator B+ wire retainers from the top of the cooling fan motor and shroud.
8. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the RH side of the cooling fan motor and shroud.
9. Detach the upper radiator hose retainer from the cooling fan motor and shroud.
10. Detach the 3 wiring harness retainers from the RH side of the cooling fan motor and shroud.
11. Disconnect the 2 cooling fan electrical connectors.
12. Detach the 3 cooling fan wiring harness retainers.
13. Remove the 4 Battery Junction Box (BJB) bracket bolts.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
6.2L engines
14. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir stud bolt and position the power steering fluid reservoir and the wiring harness aside.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
All engines
15. Remove the 2 bolts and the cooling fan motor and shroud.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
16. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
