Pinpoint Test B: DTC B1305:01
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 117, Remote Keyless Entry and Alarm for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
When the alarm system is armed, the Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the hood switch. If the hood is opened while the alarm is armed, the hood switch removes ground from the signal circuit. This signals the BCM that an unauthorized intrusion to the engine compartment has occurred and the BCM activates the perimeter alarm.
- DTC B1305:01 (Hood Switch: General Electrical Failure) - set by the BCM if it detects an open on the hood switch sense circuit. This DTC also sets if the hood is open during a BCM self-test.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Hood switch
- BCM
PINPOINT TEST B: DTC B1305:01
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
-------------------------------------------------
B1 CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH
- Disconnect: Hood Switch C127.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the hood switch C127-1, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and the hood switch C127-2, circuit GD120 (BK/GN), harness side.
- Clear the BCM DTCs.
- Repeat the BCM self-test.
- Is the BCM DTC B1305:01 retrieved?
Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to B2.
No
REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new hood switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
B2 CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance between the hood switch C127-2, circuit GD120 (BK/GN), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to B3.
No
REPAIR circuit GD120 (BK/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
B3 CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT TO THE BCM FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280F.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the hood switch C127-1, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and the hood switch C127-2, circuit GD120 (BK/GN), harness side.
- Measure the resistance between the BCM C2280F-2, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to B4.
No
REPAIR circuit CPL25 (BU/OG) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
B4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the BCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the BCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
