Oil Cooler: Service and Repair




Oil Cooler

Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

2. Remove and discard the engine oil filter.

3. Using hose clamp pliers, clamp the 2 oil cooler coolant hoses and remove the 2 coolant hoses from the oil cooler.





4. Loosen the oil cooler insert bolt and remove the oil cooler.

-Inspect the oil cooler gasket, replace if necessary.





Installation

1. Align the oil cooler to the oil filter adapter and tighten the oil cooler insert bolt.

-Tighten to 58 Nm (43 lb-ft).





2. Connect the 2 coolant hoses to the engine oil cooler and remove the hose clamp pliers.





3. NOTE: Do not lubricate the engine oil filter gasket.

Install a new engine oil filter.

-Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) and then rotate an additional 180 degrees.

4. Inspect and adjust the coolant level in the degas bottle.

5. Inspect and adjust the engine oil level.
