Pinpoint Test P: The Audio Control Module (ACM) Does Not Respond To Touchscreen Or Button Presses
Normal Operation
When a button is pressed on the Audio Control Module (ACM) (whether it is a hard button or the touchscreen), a signal is sent over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) to the modules in the audio system.
- DTC B108E:63 (Display: Circuit / Component Protection Time-Out) - sets in continuous memory when the ACM display touchscreen is detected as touched for more than two minutes or, during the on-demand self-test, the display touch display touchscreen is detected as touched for more than three seconds.
- DTC B2924 (Audio Button Stuck) - sets in continuous memory when an ACM hard button is stuck for longer than two minutes or, during the on-demand self-test, if an ACM hard button is detected as active for any duration. Make sure no ACM buttons are pressed during the self-test. This DTC applies to early build vehicles without navigation only.
- DTC U2013:63 (Switch Pack: Circuit / Component Protection Time-Out) - sets in continuous memory when an ACM hard button is stuck for longer than 2 minutes or, during the on-demand self-test if an ACM hard button is detected as active for any duration. Make sure no ACM buttons are pressed during the self-test. This DTC applies to vehicle with navigation only.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- ACM
PINPOINT TEST P: THE ACM DOES NOT RESPOND TO TOUCHSCREEN OR BUTTON PRESSES
-------------------------------------------------
P1 CHECK FOR DTCs B2924 OR U2013:63
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ACM DTCs.
- Wait 3 minutes.
- Repeat the ACM self-test, making sure that no buttons are pressed during the test.
- Is DTC B2924 or DTC U2013:63 set in the ACM?
Yes
GO to P3.
No
GO to P2.
-------------------------------------------------
P2 CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs
NOTE: Audio system lost communication DTCs include U0184, U0184:00, U0193, U0193:00, U0196, U0196:00, U0197 and U0197:00.
- Using the scan tool, retrieve all continuous DTCs from all modules.
- Are audio system lost communication DTCs present in any module?
Yes
REFER to DTC Charts. Information and Entertainment Systems
No
GO to P3.
-------------------------------------------------
P3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the ACM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the ACM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new ACM. REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) Audio Control Module (ACM). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
