Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module

Removal and Installation

NOTICE: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

NOTICE: When installing a new ABS module, make sure the number of coils (metal cans) in the new ABS module equals the number of valves in the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). This is an additional method of verifying that the correct replacement part number has been selected. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the components.

1. If a new ABS module is being installed, connect the scan tool and upload the module configuration information from the ABS module. For additional information on configuration, refer to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) in Module Configuration Programmable Module Installation (PMI).

2. Remove the LH front fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to Front End Body Panels Fender Splash Shield.

3. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.

4. Remove the 4 ABS module screws.
- To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

5. Remove the ABS module.

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. If a new ABS module was installed, it must be configured (using vehicle as-built data or module configuration information retrieved earlier in this procedure). For additional information on configuration, refer to PMI in Module Configuration Programmable Module Installation (PMI).

2. If a new ABS module was installed and the vehicle is equipped with Roll Stability Control (RSC(R)) and/or trailer sway control, connect the scan tool and carry out the IVD Initialization sequence.
