Crankshaft Pulley Runout Inspection
Crankshaft Pulley Runout Inspection
1. Check the crankshaft pulley runout.
- Remove the paint from the crankshaft pulley face at 4 points, 90 degrees apart.
- Attach the Dial Indicator Gauge with Holding Fixture to the cylinder block, positioning it on one of the unpainted surfaces.
- NOTE: Pry the crankshaft forward only to eliminate possible error caused by crankshaft end play.
Using a suitable tool, pry the crankshaft forward. Zero the Dial Indicator Gauge.
- Rotate the crankshaft 90 degrees. Pry the crankshaft forward. Record the measurement. Repeat at each unpainted surface.
- If the runout exceeds specification, install a new crankshaft pulley. For additional information, refer to Specifications.
