Output Shaft Seal









Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the rear driveshaft from the transmission and position it aside. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Diagrams.

3. Using the Drive Pinion Flange Holding Fixture, remove the transmission flange retainer nut and washer.





4. Using the 2 or 3 Jaw Puller, remove the transmission flange.





5. Remove and discard the output shaft seal.





Installation

1. Using a suitable seal installer, install a new output shaft seal.





2. NOTE: Apply threadlock to the threads of the retaining nut.

Using the Drive Pinion Flange Holding Fixture, install the transmission flange, washer and flange retaining nut.

- Tighten to 160 Nm (118 lb-ft).





3. Connect the rear driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Diagrams.
