Pinpoint Test AS: The Keyboard Is Completely Inoperative

Normal Operation

The Bluetooth(R) keyboard can be used to interact with the in-dash computer by utilizing the Bluetooth(R) connection.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Customer error
- Batteries
- Bluetooth(R) connection concern
- Keyboard

PINPOINT TEST AS: THE KEYBOARD IS COMPLETELY INOPERATIVE

AS1 CHECK THE BLUETOOTH(R) CONNECTION

NOTE: Pair the mobile phone as a phone, not as a device, for this step to produce accurate results.

- Using a known good Bluetooth(R)-enabled mobile phone, attempt to pair to the in-dash computer. Refer to the Owner's Literature.
- Check the list of devices paired with the in-dash computer:
- From the home screen, press SETTINGS, then BLUETOOTH(R).
- Is the mobile phone in the list of available devices?

Yes
GO to AS2.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AN. Pinpoint Test AN: Telematics Is Inoperative/Do Not Operate Correctly (Crew Chief)

AS2 CHECK THE KEYBOARD BLUETOOTH(R) CONNECTION

NOTE: Pair the keyboard as a device, not as a phone, for this step to produce accurate results.

- Pair the keyboard with the in-dash computer using the Bluetooth(R) connection. Refer to the Owner's Literature.
- Test the system for normal operation.
- Does the keyboard operate correctly?

Yes
The cause of the concern was the keyboard not being paired correctly with the in-dash computer. INSTRUCT the customer in the correct method for pairing a Bluetooth(R) device. The system is operating correctly.

No
GO to AS3.

AS3 CHECK THE KEYBOARD BATTERIES

- Install a known good set of batteries in the keyboard.
- Test the system for normal operation.
- Does the keyboard operate correctly?

Yes
The cause of the concern was inoperative batteries. The system is now operating correctly.

No
REPLACE the keyboard. TEST the system for normal operation.
