Manual Control Lever Shaft Seal
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.
3. Remove the nut and remove the manual control lever.
4. Using a suitable tool, remove the manual shaft seal.
Installation
1. Lubricate a new manual shaft seal with clean transmission fluid. Install the manual shaft seal on the manual shaft and push it into the transmission case.
2. Install the manual control lever and install the nut.
- Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
3. Connect the selector lever cable end on the manual lever.
4. Start the engine. Move the selector lever through all gear ranges while checking for engagements to allow the main control hydraulic circuits to fill with transmission fluid.
5. NOTICE: The use of any transmission fluid other than specified may result in the transmission failing to operate in a normal manner or transmission failure.
Using the scan tool with the engine running, check and make sure the transmission is at normal operating temperature 82-93°C (180-200°F). Check and adjust the transmission fluid level and check for any leaks. If transmission fluid is needed, add transmission fluid in increments of 0.24L (0.5 pt) until the correct level is achieved.
