Engine Wire Harness
Upper Oil Pan
Removal
1. Remove the oil level indicator.
2. Remove the flexplate. For additional information refer to Flexplate Removal and Replacement.
3. Remove the oil cooler. For additional information, refer to Oil Cooler Service and Repair.
4. Remove and discard the oil filter.
5. Disconnect the Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) sensor and Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch electrical connectors.
6. Remove the nut from the oil filter header and position aside the engine wire harness.
7. Remove the nut and position aside the transmission cooler tubes.
8. Remove the nut and position aside the side engine wire harness.
9. Remove the 2 nuts from the front of the engine and position the engine wire harness aside.
10. NOTE: Do not remove the zero leak plug from the oil pan.
Remove the 25 bolts and the upper oil pan.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
Installation
1. Install a new gasket in the upper oil pan.
2. Apply a dime-sized bead of sealant at the 4 cover joints.
3. NOTE: Final torque must be reached within 30 minutes of sealant application.
NOTE: Do not remove the zero leak plug from the oil pan.
With the help of an assistant, install the upper oil pan and 25 bolts. Tighten in 2 stages in the sequence shown.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
4. Position the front wire harness and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
5. Position the side wire harness and install the nut.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
6. Position the transmission cooler tubes and install the nut.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
7. Position the engine wire harness at the oil filter header and install the nut.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
8. Connect the EOP switch and EOT sensor electrical connectors.
9. Install a new oil filter.
10. Install the oil cooler. For additional information, refer to Oil Cooler Service and Repair.
11. Install the flexplate. For additional information refer to Flexplate Removal and Replacement.
12. Install the oil level indicator.
