Engine Rear Cover
Removal
1. Remove the upper oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Service and Repair.
2. NOTICE: The upper oil pan must be removed prior to removing the engine rear cover or engine damage may occur.
Remove the upper oil pan. For additional information, refer to Oil Pan - Upper Oil Pan - Upper.
3. Remove the crankshaft rear seal. For additional information, refer to Crankshaft Rear Seal Service and Repair.
4. Remove the turbocharger downpipe bracket bolt.
5. Disconnect the CKP electrical connector.
6. NOTICE: To prevent engine damage, replace damaged or missing dowel pins before installing the engine rear cover.
Remove the 10 bolts and the engine rear cover.
- Remove and discard the engine rear cover gasket.
Installation
1. NOTICE: To prevent engine damage, replace damaged or missing dowel pins before installing the engine rear cover.
Using a new gasket, install the engine rear cover and the 10 bolts. Tighten in the 2 stages, in the sequence shown.
- Stage 1: Tighten bolts 1-9 to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten bolt 10 to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
2. Connect the CKP electrical connector.
3. Install the turbocharger downpipe bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
4. Install the crankshaft rear seal. For additional information, refer to Crankshaft Rear Seal Service and Repair.
5. Install the upper oil pan. For additional information, refer to Oil Pan - Upper Oil Pan - Upper.
6. Install the oil level indicator and tube. For additional information, refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Service and Repair.
