Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor - Primary Cooling System









Removal

1. NOTICE: Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to working on the electronic engine controls or the vehicle may be damaged.

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

2. Drain the engine primary cooling system. For additional information refer to Engine Cooling - Diesel Engine Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

3. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) electrical connector.

4. Remove the ECT sensor.

Installation

1. Install the ECT sensor.
- Tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).

2. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.

3. NOTICE: Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the engine cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can result in damage to the engine.
