FORD:
2011-2012 F-Super Duty
This article supersedes TSB 11-5-14 to update the vehicle model years, Issue Statement and Service Procedure.
ISSUE
Some 2011-2012 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may experience a loss of power due to engine air cleaner (ACL) snow packing when operated in extreme snow conditions or when equipped with a snow plow. This concern may result in diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0299 and/or P1247. A low restriction secondary foam filter is now available to resolve this concern.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
To reduce the risk of vehicle damage do not start your engine with the air filter removed and do not remove it while the engine is running.
1. Remove the ACL cover, ACL element and clear the snow and ice from the ACL housing inlet. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-12.
2. Remove and discard the foam ACL filter element.
3. Install the low restriction secondary foam filter.
4. Install the ACL element, ACL cover and reset the the air filter restriction gauge. Refer to WSM, Section 303-12.
