AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - HARSH 1-2 SHIFT -
BUILT FROM 1/13/2011-1/28/2011

FORD:
2011 Fiesta

ISSUE
Some 2011 Fiesta vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission and built from 1/13/2011 to 1/28/2011 may exhibit a harsh 1-2 shift.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration level using IDS release 71.06 and higher or 72.01 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.3 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

NOTE
THE PCM AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) ARE A MATCHED SET. PROGRAMMING THE PCM WILL AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE THE TCM.

2. Perform the following Transmission Adaptive Learning general procedures. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 307-11.

a. Transmission Range (TR) Sensor Adaptive Learning

b. Shift Drum Adaptive Learning

c. Clutch Adaptive Learning

d. Drive Cycle

NOTE
FAILURE TO PERFORM ALL STEPS OF THE ADAPTIVE LEARNING ROUTINES AND/OR THE DRIVE CYCLE MAY RESULT IN ERRATIC SHIFTS AND DRIVEABILITY CONCERNS.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
