Steering Column Lock Module
Removal and Installation
1. Remove the steering wheel. For more information, refer to Steering Column Removal and Replacement.
NOTICE: Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column may result.
2. Remove the ignition switch. For additional information, refer to Ignition Switch Ignition Switch.
3. Disconnect the following electrical connectors.
- Multifunction switch
- Clockspring
- Steering wheel rotation sensor
4. Remove the 4 screws and the following components as an assembly.
- Multifunction switch
- Clockspring
- Steering wheel rotation sensor
- Carrier
5. Detach the PATS transceiver from the steering column lock module and position aside. For additional information, refer to Anti-Theft - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Service and Repair.
6. NOTE: Clean all metal shavings and foreign material after cutting slots in the steering column lock module bolts.
Cut slots into the heads of the 2 steering column lock module bolts.
7. Remove the 2 steering column lock module bolts.
- Discard the bolts.
8. Remove the steering column lock module clamp.
9. Remove the steering column lock module.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Align the ribs on the steering column lock module with the window of the steering column tube.
- Align the locating pin with the slot on the locating bracket of the steering column.
- Tighten the new bolts until the heads of the bolts shear off.
