Liftgate
Removal and Installation
All vehicles
1. Remove the D-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation D-Pillar Trim Panel.
2. Remove the C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation C-Pillar Trim Panel.
Vehicles equipped with glass roof
3. Remove the rear dome lamp.
- Using a non-marring tool, pry down from the rear of the dome lamp.
4. Disconnect the dome lamp electrical connector.
- Feed the dome lamp electrical connector through the dome lamp housing.
5. Pull downward on the sunshade frame at the rear of the back window opening panel to release the sunshade frame pin-type retainers.
All vehicles
6. Release the rear headliner pin-type retainers.
7. Lower the rear of the headliner to gain access to the electrical connectors.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the routing clips.
9. Disconnect the rear washer hose routing.
10. Disconnect the grommets from the vehicle body.
- Position the wiring harness through the vehicle body.
- Position the rear washer hose routing through the vehicle body.
Vehicles with power liftgate
11. Remove the power liftgate rod-to-liftgate nut cover and nut.
- To install, apply threadlock to the threads of the fastener and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
12. Remove the power liftgate rod from the liftgate.
All vehicles
13. Support the liftgate in the open position.
14. Remove the liftgate struts.
15. With help from an assistant, remove the liftgate hinge-to-liftgate bolts.
- To install, tighten to 34 Nm (25 lb-ft).
16. With help from an assistant, remove the liftgate.
17. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Check liftgate alignment. For additional information, refer to Liftgate Alignment Adjustments.
- If equipped with power liftgate, initialize the power liftgate system. For additional information, refer to Power Liftgate Initialization Procedures.
