Pinpoint Test F: The Door Lock Control Switch Or The Roof Opening Panel Control Switch Illumination is Inoperative

Normal Operation

When the accessory delay relay energizes, voltage is supplied to the door lock control switches and the roof opening panel control switch, illuminating the switch.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Door lock control switch
- Roof opening panel control switch


PINPOINT TEST F: THE DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH OR THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

F1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH OR THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH


- Operate the door locks or the roof opening panel from the suspect switch.
- Do the door locks or the roof opening panel operate?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
For the door locks, REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Testing and Inspection.

For the roof opening panel, REFER to Roof Opening Panel Testing and Inspection.

F2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SUSPECT CONTROL SWITCH


- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Suspect Switch.
- Ignition ON.
- For the door lock control switch, measure the voltage between the driver door lock control switch C541-3, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground; or between the passenger door lock control switch C605-3, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.




- For the roof opening panel control switch, measure the voltage between the roof opening panel control switch C912-2, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.




- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
For the door lock control switch, INSTALL a new door lock control switch. REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

For the roof opening panel control switch, INSTALL a new overhead console. REFER to Instrument Panel and Console Overhead Console. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit CBP41 (BU) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
