DRAINED BATTERY WITH IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND KEY IN IGNITION
FORD:
2011 Flex
ISSUE
Some 2011 Flex vehicles may experience a battery drained concern with ignition switch off and the key being left in the ignition cylinder for extended periods of time (like overnight). This is due to the instrument cluster remaining awake based on the software strategy. If it has been confirmed the customer leaves the key in the ignition cylinder for extended periods of time the instrument cluster will need to be reprogrammed.
ACTION
Follow Service Procedure to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
If it has been identified that the customer does not leave the key in the ignition cylinder for extended periods, do not continue with this article. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-01 for normal diagnostics.
1. Reprogram the instrument cluster to the latest calibration using IDS release 73.03 or higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
