Removal

WARNING: Do not use any fluid other than clean brake fluid meeting manufacturer's specification. Additionally, do not use brake fluid that has been previously drained. Following these instructions will help prevent system contamination, brake component damage and the risk of serious personal injury.

NOTICE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.

1. Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Wheels and Tires Removal and Replacement.

2. Remove the brake caliper flow bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the brake caliper.
- Remove and discard the copper washers.

- Plug the brake hose.

3. NOTICE: Hand tools only must be used to remove the brake noise damper or damage to the damper may occur.

NOTICE: Do not remove the guide pin stud bolt by twisting on the noise damper or damage to the damper may occur.

Position aside the brake noise damper dust cover and remove the brake noise damper.

4. NOTICE: Do not remove the guide pin bolt, guide pin stud bolt or guide pin boots unless a problem is suspected. The guide pins are meant to be sealed for life and are not repairable.

Loosen the brake caliper guide pin bolt and guide pin stud bolt, position (slide) back and remove the brake caliper.

Installation

1. NOTE: Make sure the anti-rattle clips are correctly positioned. Install new clips if worn or damaged.

Position the anti-rattle clip on the anchor plate rail.

2. NOTE: When installed, the locator notch on the brake pads will be located at the upper end of the rear disc brake caliper.

Position the brake caliper and install the brake caliper guide pin bolt and the brake caliper guide pin stud bolt.

- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

3. NOTICE: Hand tools only must be used to install the brake noise damper or damage to the damper may occur.

Install the brake noise damper.

- Tighten to 14 Nm (124 lb-in)

- Position back the brake noise damper dust cover

4. Position the brake hose and install the brake caliper flow bolt using 2 new copper washers.
- Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

5. Bleed the brake caliper. For additional information, refer to Brake System - General Information Component Bleeding for Component Bleeding.

6. Install the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Wheels and Tires Removal and Replacement.
