Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair




Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor - 2.3L

















Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

3. Remove the engine plug bolt.





4. Install the Crankshaft Timing Peg and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the No. 1 cylinder at Top Dead Center (TDC).





5. Remove the 2 bolts and the CKP sensor.

6. Install the 6 mm x 18 mm bolt in the position shown.





Installation

1. NOTE: Whenever the CKP sensor is removed, a new one must be installed using the Crankshaft Sensor Aligner.

Position the CKP sensor and loosely install the 2 bolts.

2. Adjust the CKP sensor with the Crankshaft Sensor Aligner and tighten the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).





3. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.

4. Remove the 6 mm x 18 mm bolt.





5. Remove the Crankshaft Timing Peg.





6. Install the engine plug bolt.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
