Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Deactivation and Reactivation






Deactivation Procedure

WARNING: Always wear eye protection when servicing a vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

WARNING: Never disassemble or tamper with safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors or probe the electrical connectors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the safety belt pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.

WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag, Safety Canopy(R) or side air curtain modules. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of these modules, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.

WARNING: Do not handle, move or change the original horizontal mounting position of the restraints control module (RCM) while the RCM is connected and the ignition switch is ON. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the Safety Canopy(R) and cause serious personal injury or death.

NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition is on.

NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

1. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering.

2. Remove driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to Driver Air Bag Module Driver Air Bag Module.

3. Lower the glove compartment door fully to access the passenger air bag electrical connector.

4. Release the tab and disconnect the passenger air bag module electrical connector.





5. Under the rear of the passenger seat, slide and disengage the passenger seat side air bag module electrical connector locking clip, and then release the tab and disconnect the electrical connector.

6. Under the rear of the driver seat, slide and disengage the driver seat side air bag module electrical connector locking clip, and then release the tab and disconnect the electrical connector.

7. Install the RCM fuse 8 (10A) to the SJB.

8. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.


Reactivation Procedure

1. Remove the RCM fuse 8 (10A) from the SJB.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.

3. Under the rear of the driver seat, connect the seat side air bag module electrical connector, slide and engage the locking clip.

4. Under the rear of the front passenger seat, connect the seat side air bag module electrical connector, slide and engage the locking clip.

5. Connect the passenger air bag module electrical connector.





6. Install the driver bag module. For additional information, refer to Driver Air Bag Module Driver Air Bag Module.
