Pinpoint Test I: The Rear Video Mirror Display Is Always On
Normal Operation
With the gear selector in REVERSE (R), a reverse voltage signal is sent to the interior rear view mirror from the reverse lamp relay, enabling the system. The video signal from the video camera displays an image on the left portion of the interior rear view mirror.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Interior rear view mirror
PINPOINT TEST I: THE REAR VIDEO MIRROR DISPLAY IS ALWAYS ON

I1 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION
- Check the operation of the reversing lamps.
- Do the reversing lamps operate correctly?
Yes
DISCONNECT any aftermarket trailer lighting equipment. GO to I2.
No
REFER to Exterior Lighting Testing and Inspection.

I2 CHECK THE INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR REVERSE INPUT CIRCUIT
- Disconnect: Interior Rear View Mirror C9039.
- Measure the voltage between the interior rear view mirror C9039-2, circuit 15S-LG5 (GN/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to I3.

I3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR DISPLAY OPERATION
- Disconnect the interior rear view mirror display connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the interior rear view mirror display connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new interior rear view mirror. REFER to Rear View Mirrors Interior Rear View Mirror. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
