Pinpoint Test AB: DTC U0184:00
Information and Entertainment System
Pinpoint Test AB: DTC U0184:00
Normal Operation
Audio system modules receive network messages from the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). These messages consist of various audio system related information.
As more than one module receives these messages, all modules receiving a particular message should exhibit a symptom if the message is missing.
- DTC U0184:00 (Lost Communication With Radio: No Sub Type Information)- set by the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) and the Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) when network messages are missing from the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) for greater than 5 seconds with the ignition in RUN.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- Audio system concern
- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
PINPOINT TEST AB : DTC U0184:00
AB1 CHECK THE APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) or GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) FOR DTCs
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or PMI (Programmable Module Installation) may not have been carried out.
- Clear the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) and GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Repeat the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) and GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) self-test.
Is DTC U0184:00 still present?
Yes
GO to AB2.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring.
AB2 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes
GO to AB3.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring. CHECK the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) wiring between the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) and the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) or the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) and the GPSM (Global Positioning System Module), for an intermittent fault.
AB3 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Carry out the network test using the scan tool.
Does the GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) and the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) pass the network test?
Yes
GO to AB4.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
AB4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs
- Carry out the self-test for the following modules:
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
- GPSM (Global Positioning System Module)
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded in any module?
Yes
REFER to DTC Charts. Accessories and Optional Equipment
No
INSTALL a new GPSM (Global Positioning System Module). REFER to Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) Global Positioning System Module (GPSM). CLEAR the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) DTCs. REPEAT the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.
If DTC U0184:00 is still present, INSTALL a new APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). TEST the system for normal operation.
