Pinpoint Tests

Pinpoint Test M: DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17

NOTE: DTCs B1317, B1318, B1676 U3003:16 and U3003:17 can be set if the vehicle has been recently jump started, the battery has been recently charged or the battery has been discharged. The battery may become discharged due to excessive load(s) on the charging system from aftermarket accessories or if the battery has been left unattended with the accessories on.

Normal Operation
The Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors the input voltage for correct operation. If the RCM (Restraints Control Module) detects input voltage below 9.5 volts, it will store DTC U3003:16 in memory. If the RCM (Restraints Control Module) detects input voltage of 20 volts, it will store DTC U3003:17 in memory. If the RCM (Restraints Control Module) sets DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17, it will send a message to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) module to illuminate the air bag warning indicator.

- DTC U3003:16 (Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold)- If the RCM (Restraints Control Module) detects voltage below 9.5 volts with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault, it will set this DTC.
- DTC U3003:17 (Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold)- If the RCM (Restraints Control Module) detects voltage above 16 volts with a SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) fault or above 20 volts without a SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) fault, it will set this DTC.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- RCM (Restraints Control Module)
