PINPOINT TEST A : THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT RELEASE/LOCK CORRECTLY
NOTE: Perform a thorough inspection of the selector lever cable before proceeding with this pinpoint test.
A1 TEST THE BRAKE LIGHTS
- Apply the brake pedal and view the brake lights.
Do the brake lights illuminate?
Yes
GO to A2.
No
Go to Lighting and Horns.
A2 TEST CIRCUIT CCB08 (VT/WH) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) C2127.
- Check to make sure the selector lever harness C2127 is fully seated, the terminals are fully engaged in the connector and are in good condition before proceeding.
- Measure the voltage from C2127-3, circuit CCB08 (VT/WH), harness side and ground while applying the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when applied?
Yes
GO to A3.
No
REPAIR circuit CCB08 (VT/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
A3 TEST CIRCUIT GD114 (BK/BU) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the voltage between BSIA (Brake Shift Interlock Actuator) C2127-1 and C2127-3 while applying the BPP (Brake Pedal Position) switch.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when applied?
Yes
INSTALL a new BSIA (Brake Shift Interlock Actuator). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit GD114 (BK/BU) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
