Pinpoint Test A : The Brake Shift Interlock System Does Not Release/Lock Correctly

Pinpoint Tests

NOTE: Refer to all TSBs and On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) messages that pertain to the transmission concern and follow the procedure as described.

PINPOINT TEST A : THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT RELEASE/LOCK CORRECTLY

NOTE: Perform a thorough inspection of the selector lever cable before proceeding with this pinpoint test.

A1 TEST THE BRAKE LIGHTS

- Apply the brake pedal and view the brake lights.

Do the brake lights illuminate?

Yes
GO to A2.

No
Go to Lighting and Horns.

A2 TEST CIRCUIT CCB08 (VT/WH) FOR AN OPEN

- Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) C2127.

- Check to make sure the selector lever harness C2127 is fully seated, the terminals are fully engaged in the connector and are in good condition before proceeding.

- Measure the voltage from C2127-3, circuit CCB08 (VT/WH), harness side and ground while applying the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch.





Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when applied?

Yes
GO to A3.

No
REPAIR circuit CCB08 (VT/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

A3 TEST CIRCUIT GD114 (BK/BU) FOR AN OPEN

- Measure the voltage between BSIA (Brake Shift Interlock Actuator) C2127-1 and C2127-3 while applying the BPP (Brake Pedal Position) switch.





Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when applied?

Yes
INSTALL a new BSIA (Brake Shift Interlock Actuator). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit GD114 (BK/BU) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
