Pinpoint Test T: The Turn Signal Function Is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 90, Turn Signal/Stop/Hazard Lamps for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation
The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) monitors multifunction switch input. The SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) sends a message over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) to the Body Control Module (BCM) indicating that the multifunction switch is in the OFF, LH or RH TURN position. When the BCM (Body Control Module) receives a message for a LH or RH turn position, the BCM (Body Control Module) provides on/off voltage to the appropriate turn lamps.
- DTC B1D36:09 (Turn Indicator Switch: Component Failure)- a DTC that sets when the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) detects an input concern from the multifunction switch.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Multifunction switch
- SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)
PINPOINT TEST T : THE TURN SIGNAL FUNCTION IS INOPERATIVE
T1 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
Does the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) pass the network test?
Yes
INSTALL a new multifunction switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
If the concern still exists, INSTALL a new SCCM (Steering Column Control Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
