Pinpoint Test I: DTC U0123:00

Normal Operation

- DTC U0123:00 (Lost Communication With Yaw Rate Sensor Module: No Sub Type Information)- The yaw rate sensor is integral to the Restraints Control Module (RCM). This DTC sets in the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) if yaw rate sensor data messages received from the RCM (Restraints Control Module) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module)

- RCM (Restraints Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST I : DTC U0123:00

I1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to I2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

I2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the RCM (Restraints Control Module) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to I3.

No
REFER to Information Bus, The RCM (Restraints Control Module) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool Pinpoint Test C: The Restraints Control Module (RCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

I3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) AND THE RCM (Restraints Control Module) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) and the RCM (Restraints Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
For the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module), GO to Pinpoint Test Q (U3003:16) Pinpoint Test Q: DTC U3003:16 or GO to Pinpoint Test R (U3003:17) Pinpoint Test R: DTC U3003:17.

For the RCM (Restraints Control Module), REFER to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.

No
GO to I4.

I4 RECHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0123:00 still present?

Yes
GO to I5.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

I5 CHECK FOR DTC U0123:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear all DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0123:00 set in other modules?

Yes
INSTALL a new RCM (Restraints Control Module). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
INSTALL a new C-CM (Cruise-Control Module). REFER to Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
