Pinpoint Test D: One Or More Switch Or Component Illumination is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 71, Cluster and Panel Illumination for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation

When the parking lamps are on, the Body Control Module (BCM) sends voltage to the dimmable components.

Voltage is provided to the non-dimmable switches, when the accessory delay relay energizes.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- Illuminated switch

- Illuminated component

PINPOINT TEST D : ONE OR MORE SWITCH OR COMPONENT ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

D1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE SINGLE ILLUMINATION SOURCE

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect: Inoperative Illumination Source.

- Ignition ON.

- Press and hold the instrument panel dimmer switch up to the full illumination position.

- Measure the voltage between the inoperative illumination source, harness side and ground as follows:

Component Connector-Pin Circuit Floor shifter C3617-1 VLN04 (VT/GY) Media hub illumination C3619-1 VLN04 (VT/GY) Memory set switch C2094-3 VLN04 (VT/GY) Power liftgate switch C2269-3 VLN04 (VT/GY) Roof opening panel switch C9001-8 VLN04 (VT/GY) Start/stop switch C2195-5 VLN04 (VT/GY) LH door lock control switch C505-2 CBP32 (GN/VT) (Edge) VLN04 (VT/GY) (MKX) RH door lock control switch C605-2 CBP32 (GN/VT) (Edge) VLN04 (VT/GY) (MKX) LH rear heated seat switch C722-5 VLN04 (VT/GY) RH rear heated seat switch C822-5 VLN04 (VT/GY) LH front window control switch (MKX) C535A-6 VLN04 (VT/GY) RH front window control switch (MKX) C648-1 VLN04 (VT/GY) LH rear window control switch (MKX) C701-4 VLN04 (VT/GY) RH rear window control switch (MKX) C801-4 VLN04 (VT/GY)

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
For an Edge/MKX door lock control switch or an MKX window control switch, INSTALL a new switch in question.

For the roof opening panel switch, INSTALL a new switch.
For all other components, GO to D2.

No
REPAIR the voltage supply circuit in question for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

D2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE SINGLE ILLUMINATION SOURCE USING THE CONNECTOR GROUND

- Measure the voltage between the inoperative illumination source connector, harness side as follows:

Component Connector-Pin/ Circuit Connector-Pin/ Circuit Floor shifter C3617-1 VLN04 (VT/GY) C3617-3 GD115 (BK/GY) Media hub illumination C3619-1 VLN04 (VT/GY) C3619-3 GD115 (BK/GY) Memory set switch C2094-3 VLN04 (VT/GY) C2094-4 GD115 (BK/GY) Power liftgate switch C2269-3 VLN04 (VT/GY) C2269-2 GD115 (BK/GY) Start/stop switch C2195-5 VLN04 (VT/GY) C2195-3 GD115 (BK/GY) LH rear heated seat switch C722-5 VLN04 (VT/GY) C722-1 GD126 (BK/WH) RH rear heated seat switch C822-5 VLN04 (VT/GY) C822-1 GD140 (BK/GN)

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new component in question. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
