Safety Belt Retractor - 2nd Row, Outboard, with Inflatable Shoulder Belt

WARNING: After a crash, all of the following second and third row safety belt components and attaching hardware must be inspected and tested to verify correct function:
- Retractors
- Buckles
- Child safety seat tether bracket assemblies
- ALR (Automatic Locking Retractor) feature for child safety seats (passenger seating positions only)
- Inflatable safety belt systems
Components that do not operate correctly or pass all Functional Tests in the Component Tests must be replaced with new components.
Safety belt assembly attaching areas must be inspected. Damaged or distorted attaching areas must be restored to their original structural integrity and a new safety belt assembly with new attaching hardware must be installed.
Deployed inflatable safety belts must be replaced with new inflatable components (including retractors, buckles and inflators) and all parts in the service kit.
Failure to install new safety belt systems and attaching hardware increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
1. Push the lower safety belt tongue cover to one side, lift and disengage that side of the lower safety belt tongue cover.
- Repeat for the other side and open the lower safety belt tongue cover.
2. Disassemble the lap belt from the safety belt tongue.
1. Push down on the lap belt and spring clip.
2. Remove the pin.
3. Pull the lap belt out of the lower safety belt tongue cover.
3. Pry out at the outer edges, slide back and remove the upper safety belt tongue cover.
4. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. REFER to C-Pillar Trim Panel - With Inflatable Safety Belts .
5. For the LH (Left Hand) retractor with auxiliary HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), remove the 2 bolts.
6. Remove the bolt and separate the D-ring.
7. Remove the bolt and the safety belt retractor.
Installation
1. Position the D-ring and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
2. Position the safety belt retractor and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Remove the shipping clip.
3. For the LH (Left Hand) retractor with auxiliary HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), install the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
4. Install the C-pillar trim panel. REFER to C-Pillar Trim Panel - With Inflatable Safety Belts .
5. NOTE: Before installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.
Prepare the lap safety belt for assembly.
1. Make sure the lower safety belt tongue cover is positioned on the safety belt as shown.
2. Make sure the bushing is positioned in the safety belt web loop.
3. The secondary safety belt web loop must be positioned down.
6. NOTE: Refer to the explode view for assembly details.
Assemble the lap belt to the safety belt tongue.
1. Position the safety belt web loop to the safety belt tongue.
2. Push down on the lap belt and spring clip.
3. Insert the pin.
7. Make sure the pin is pushed all the way in and the spring clip is allowed to ride up on the shoulder of the pin.
8. Slide the upper safety belt tongue cover on.
9. Engage the lower safety belt tongue cover to the safety belt tongue retainers.
10. NOTE: If the pin is not pushed all the way in the lower safety belt tongue cover will not close correctly.
Push the lower safety belt tongue cover to each side and engage the retainers.
11. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. REFER to Functional Test - Safety Belt Retractor, Road Test Inspection, Inflatable Safety Belt Functional Test - Safety Belt Retractor, Road Test Inspection, Inflatable Safety Belt.
