Pinpoint Test
1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
1. Ignition ON.
2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
Does the BCM (Body Control Module) pass the network test?
3. RECHECK THE SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) OR THE SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
2. Repeat the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) or the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 still present?
4. CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, clear continuous DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.
3. Ignition OFF.
4. Ignition ON.
5. Wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Retrieve all continuous DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 set in any other module?
5. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
Is the concern still present?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Connect the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) connector and make sure it seats correctly.
4. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
7. CHECK FOR CORRECT SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
