Diagnostic Overview

Tire Pressure Monitoring System Warning Indicator is on Continuously and the Message Center Displays Low Tire Pressure

Normal Operations and Fault Conditions

REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Indicator .

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect for the spare tire in use.

- Inspect for low tire pressure.

Special Tool(s)

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK FOR SPARE TIRE IN USE

1. NOTE: The spare tire is not programmable even if it is equipped with a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor. If a damaged road wheel is located in the trunk, the sensor may still be recognized by the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) as low. Make sure the spare tire is not currently in use.

2. Check spare tire location.

Is the spare tire in use?

2. CHECK FOR LOW TIRE PRESSURE

1. Using the 204-354 , measure and record the tire pressure in all 4 tires.

2. Adjust the pressure for those found to be below the specification listed on the VC (Vehicle Certification) label.

3. Activate each sensor at least twice with the training tool or customer activation tool to make sure the module gets the latest tire pressure data. REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Activation Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Activation, or drive the vehicle for at least 2 minutes above 32.2 km/h (20 mph) to clear the low pressure warning. Do not train the sensors at this time.

Has the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator gone out?

3. TRAIN ALL 4 TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) SENSORS

1. Train all 4 TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors. REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Intelligent Access (IA) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Intelligent Access (IA) or REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT).

Do all of the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors train?

4. CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURES USING THE TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) SENSOR PIDs (Parameter Identifications)

1. Using a scan tool, view BCM (Body Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications):

- Left Front Tire Pressure (TPM_PRES_LF)
- Right Front Tire Pressure (TPM_PRES_RF)
- Left Rear Tire Pressure (TPM_PRES_LRO)
- Right Rear Tire Pressure (TPM_PRES_RRO)

Do the LF, RF and LR tire pressures indicated by the PIDs (Parameter Identifications) match within +/- 20.7 kPa (3 psi) the tire pressures shown by the 204-354?
