Catalytic Converter - RH




Catalytic Converter - RH, FWD

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

NOTICE: Do not excessively bend, twist or allow the exhaust to hang from the flexible pipe or damage to the exhaust system may occur.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, REFER to Lifting Points .

2. Detach the 3 retainers and remove the splash shield.





3. Remove the RH (Right Hand) CMS (Catalyst Monitor Sensor). REFER to Catalyst Monitor Sensor - 3.5L Ti-VCT .

4. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe. REFER to Exhaust Y-Pipe .

5. Remove the 4 nuts and the RH (Right Hand) catalytic converter.

- Discard the 4 RH (Right Hand) catalytic converter nuts and gasket.

Installation

NOTICE: Do not excessively bend, twist or allow the exhaust to hang from the flexible pipe or damage to the exhaust system may occur.

NOTE: Exhaust fasteners are of a torque prevailing design. Use only new fasteners with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.

1. NOTE: Make sure to tighten the 4 new nuts in the following sequence.
Install a new RH (Right Hand) catalytic converter gasket, position the RH (Right Hand) catalytic converter and tighten the 4 new nuts in the sequence shown.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





2. Install the exhaust Y-pipe. REFER to Exhaust Y-Pipe .

3. Install the RH (Right Hand) CMS (Catalyst Monitor Sensor). REFER to Catalyst Monitor Sensor - 3.5L Ti-VCT

4. Install the splash shield and attach the 3 retainers.





5. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
