Engine Ignition
Engine Ignition
The electronic ignition system is a coil-on-plug ignition system. The coil-on-plug ignition system consists of the:
- eight ignition coil-on-plugs.
- eight ignition wires.
- eight upper spark plugs.
- eight lower spark plugs.
The 8 separate ignition coil-on-plugs:
- change low voltage signals from the PCM to high voltage pulses.
- produce the high voltage pulses to the spark plugs.
- are connected directly to the upper spark plug.
- are connected by an ignition wire to the lower spark plug.
The 16 spark plugs:
- change high voltage pulses into a spark which ignites the fuel and air mixture.
- originally equipped on the vehicle have platinum-enhanced electrodes for long life.
