Front Fender: Service and Repair




Fender





Removal and Installation

Both fenders

1. On vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI engine, remove the front fender foam hood seal.

2. If equipped, remove the fender mouldings.

3. Remove the headlamp assembly.

RH fender

4. Remove the antenna cable.

Both fenders

5. Remove the fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to Fender Splash Shield .

6. Remove the 3 front bumper cover-to-fender bolts.

7. Remove the fender lower reinforcement bolt.

8. Remove the bumper cover-to-fender support brace bolts (1 each side).

9. Remove the fender upper rear bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).


10. NOTE: It will be necessary to remove the rear expandable foam baffle pushpins and position the foam baffle aside to gain access to the fender rear inside bolt.
Remove the rear expandable foam baffle pushpin retainers.


11. NOTE: If expandable foam sealant has been used between the rear expandable foam baffle and the cowling, carefully cut the foam sealant to remove the rear expandable foam baffle from the cowling.
NOTE: If reusing an existing expandable foam baffle, use Flexible Foam Repair or equivalent to seal the area around the entire perimeter of the rear expandable foam baffle.
Remove the rear expandable foam baffle.


12. Remove the fender rear inner bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).


13. If equipped, remove the fender lower trim cover pushpins (2 each side).

14. Remove the lower fender bolts (2 each side).
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).


15. Remove the upper fender bolts.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).


16. Remove the fender.

17. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
