Pinpoint Test Z: DTC U0102:00

Normal Operation

- DTC U0102:00 (Lost Communication With Transfer Case Control Module: No Sub Type Information)- a continuous memory DTC set by the ABS module if the 4WD message that should be received from the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) is missing for 5 seconds or longer.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Communication network concern

- TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module)

- ABS module

PINPOINT TEST Z : DTC U0102:00

Z1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to Z2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

Z2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Connect the scan tool.

- Using a scan tool, carry out the Network Test.

Does the TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module) pass the Network Test?

Yes
GO to Z3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

Z3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE AND TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module) SELF-TESTS

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS Module.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module).

Is DTC P0562:00 (or B11E8:16) or DTC P0563:00 (or B11E8:17) recorded?

Yes
For ABS module DTC B11E8:16, GO to Pinpoint Test P. Pinpoint Test P: DTC B11E8:16

For ABS module DTC B11E8:17, GO to Pinpoint Test Q. Pinpoint Test Q: DTC B11E8:17

For TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module) DTCs, REFER to Transfer Case.

No
GO to Z4.

Z4 RECHECK THE ABS MODULE DTCs

- Using a scan tool, clear the ABS module DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- ABS Module.

Is DTC U0102:00 still present?

Yes
GO to Z5.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

Z5 CHECK FOR DTC U0102:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Using a scan tool, clear all CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test- All CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0102:00 set in more than one module?

Yes
INSTALL a new TCCM (Transfer Case Control Module). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the ABS module self-test.

No
INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.
