Pinpoint Test G: DTC B2900
Normal Operation
When the ignition is turned to the RUN position, the ABS module and the Body Control Module (BCM) share Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) information over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN).
- DTC B2900 (VIN Mismatch)- if the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) information stored in the ABS module does not match the information transmitted by the BCM (Body Control Module), DTC B2900 sets.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Module configuration
- ABS module
PINPOINT TEST G : DTC B2900
G1 VERIFY BCM (Body Control Module) VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Log Viewer.
- Compare the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in Log Viewer to the vehicle VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) plate.
Does VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in Log Viewer match the vehicle VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) plate?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
RECONFIGURE the BCM (Body Control Module). FOLLOW the instructions on the scan tool. CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition key. REPEAT the self-test.
G2 VERIFY ABS MODULE PART NUMBER
- Retrieve and record the ABS module part number from Log Viewer and verify that the vehicle has the correct ABS module installed.
Is the correct ABS module installed in the vehicle?
Yes
CONFIGURE the ABS module. REFER to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) Using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) When the Original Module is NOT Available in Information Bus. CLEAR the DTC. CYCLE the ignition key. REPEAT the self-test. Programming and Relearning
No
INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.
