Pinpoint Test AJ: The Low Fuel Message Center Indicator Is Never/Always On

Normal Operation

The low fuel message center illuminates when the fuel remaining in the tank is 1/16 of a tank (1/8 of a tank with a MyKey(R) programmed key) using the current fuel level input.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Message center concern

- Fuel gauge indication concern

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

PINPOINT TEST AJ : THE LOW FUEL MESSAGE CENTER INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

AJ1 VERIFY THE OPERATION OF THE DOOR AJAR MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATOR

- Close all doors then open the LH front door.

- Ignition ON.

- NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center cycles through each of the warning indicators. Allow the displays to cycle through each display while determining whether the door ajar message center warning indicator is active.
Observe the message center.


Is the door ajar message center telltale warning indicator active?

Yes
GO to AJ2.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AN. Pinpoint Test AN: The Door Ajar Message Center Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On

AJ2 CHECK THE FUEL GAUGE OPERATION

- Verify the fuel gauge is operating correctly and is not registering empty (E) or full (F) all the time.

Does the fuel gauge operate correctly?

Yes
GO to AJ3
No
GO to Pinpoint Test B (single fuel tank) or GO to Pinpoint Test C (dual fuel tanks). Pinpoint Test B: Incorrect Fuel Gauge Indication - Single Fuel Tank Pinpoint Test C: Incorrect Fuel Gauge Indication - Dual Fuel Tanks

AJ3 CHECK THE FUEL LEVEL

- Verify the fuel level is at 1/16 tank (with an administrator key or without MyKey(R)) or 1/8 tank (with a MyKey(R) programmed key).

Is the fuel level at or below 1/16 tank (with an administrator key or without MyKey(R)) or 1/8 tank (with a MyKey(R) programmed key)?

Yes
If the low fuel message center indicator is never on, INSTALL a new IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.

If the low fuel message center warning indicator is always on, the system is operating correctly at this time.

No
If the low fuel message center warning indicator is always on, INSTALL a new IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.

If the low fuel message center warning indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. The low fuel message center indicator turns on when the fuel level is at or below 1/16 tank (1/8 with MyKey(R) programmed key).
