Pinpoint Test H: DTC U300A:01

Normal Operation

When the ignition switch is cycled to the OFF/LOCK position, from any other position, a monitoring cycle begins. The monitoring cycle checks that the voltage supplied to the Body Control Module (BCM) from the ignition switch through the run/acc, run/start and start circuits were delivered correctly for each ignition switch position.

- DTC U300A:01 (Ignition Switch: General Electrical Failure)-- sets if the voltage inputs to the BCM (Body Control Module) do not match the pre defined configurations for each ignition switch position.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- Ignition switch

- Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module (CDIM), if equipped

PINPOINT TEST H : DTC U300A:01

H1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: BCM (Body Control Module) Self-Test.

- Check for recorded DTCs from the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U300A:01 the only DTC recorded?

Yes
For vehicles equipped with a CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module), GO to H2.

For vehicles not equipped with a CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module), GO to Pinpoint Test A. Pinpoint Test A: No Power in All Ignition Switch Positions

DIAGNOSE all other BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs before addressing DTC U300A:01. REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) DTC Chart. Steering Column

H2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module) SELF-TEST

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module) Self-Test.

- Check for recorded DTCs from the CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module) self-test.

Are any CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module) DTCs present?

Yes
DIAGNOSE all CDIM (Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module) DTCs before addressing BCM (Body Control Module) DTC U300A:01. REFER to the Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module (CDIM) DTC Chart. Steering Column
No
GO to Pinpoint Test A. Pinpoint Test A: No Power in All Ignition Switch Positions
