Information and Entertainment System
Functional Components
The functional components of the audio system and their location are as follows:
- Audio Front Control Module (ACM)
- Satellite Digital Audio Receiver System (SDARS) module, integral to the ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
- Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), located behind the RH side of the instrument panel (if equipped)
- Global Positioning System Module (GPSM), located behind the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) (if equipped)
- Speakers (see Audio Line-Up for locations)
- AM/FM antenna
- Satellite radio antenna (if equipped)
- Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna, part of the satellite radio antenna (if equipped)
- AM/FM antenna cable
- Satellite radio antenna cable (if equipped)
- Audio input jack, located at the front of the floor console
- Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and cable (if equipped)
- Microphone, located in the headliner (if equipped)
- Steering wheel controls (if equipped)
Audio Line-Up
The following audio systems are available:
- Base
- AM/FM stereo
- Two front door speakers
- Single CD
- AM/FM single CD ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
- Four speakers
- Premium
- AM/FM single CD ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
- Eight speakers and a subwoofer (9 speakers total)
- Navigation
- Navigation ACM (Audio Front Control Module) with high-definition (HD) radio tuner
- Rear video camera
- Built-in satellite radio receiver
- Only available with Premium sound system
All audio systems (except base) include the following features:
- Speed sensitive volume
- Accessory delay
- MP3 capability
- Audio input jack
Speaker locations for particular vehicle configurations are:
- Regular cab
- Single CD: 2 front door speakers, 2 rear speakers located in the trim panel
- Premium : 2 front door speakers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear 2-way speakers located in the trim panel, subwoofer (located on the passenger side behind the front seat)
- SuperCab
- Single CD: 2 front door speakers, 2 rear speakers located in the rear mini-doors
- Premium : 2 front door speakers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear 2-way speakers located in the rear mini-doors, subwoofer (located on the driver side under the rear seat)
- Crew Cab
- Single CD: 2 front door speakers, 2 rear speakers located in the rear trim panel
- Premium : 2 front door speakers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear speakers located in the rear trim panel, 2 rear tweeters, subwoofer (located on the passenger side behind the rear seat)
Antenna
The antenna cable connects the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) to the antenna. The antenna system consists of the antenna and antenna cable.
Audio Input Jack
The audio input jack is used to connect a portable MP3 device to the vehicle. When connected, the audio files from the MP3 player can be broadcast through the vehicle speakers.
Satellite Radio
The satellite audio system is comprised of the following:
- ACM (Audio Front Control Module) (satellite receiver is built-in)
- Combination GPS (Global Positioning System) /satellite radio antenna
- Satellite radio antenna cable
Navigation System
The navigation system consists of the following:
- Navigation ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
- GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna (part of the combination satellite radio/GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna)
- Microphone
The ACM (Audio Front Control Module) controls the operation of the navigation system and the audio system. The system uses a GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna, a vehicle speed input, and other sensor information to accurately establish the vehicle position.
SYNC System
The SYNC system consists of the following:
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
- SYNC-specific steering wheel controls
- Microphone
- USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable and port
- Audio input jack
SYNC is a hands-free communications and entertainment system that allows the following interactions:
- Send and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Send and receive text messages via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Connect media devices (such as an iPod(R) or USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash device) in order to play audio files
- Play media files via a Bluetooth-enabled audio device
- Produce vehicle health reports
- Initiate an emergency call (eCall) when the air bags deploy
Not all features are available with every phone.
