Pinpoint Test G: DTC B1310:12
Normal Operation
The Body Control Module (BCM) receives run/start circuit information from the ignition switch and communicates the inputs internally to provide a ground to the run/start relay control circuit. Once activated the run start relay, located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB), provides voltage to the run/start bus. The BCM (Body Control Module) continually monitors the inputs from the ignition switch to identify correct operation of the circuit. The applicable DTC sets if a circuit failure is detected.
- DTC B1310:12 (Run/Start Control: Circuit Short to Battery)- sets if the BCM (Body Control Module) determines that the run/start control circuit is shorted to battery during normal operation.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Ignition switch
- BCM (Body Control Module)
PINPOINT TEST G : DTC B1310:12
NOTICE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
G1 CHECK THE RUN/START RELAY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Run/Start Relay.
- Carry out the appropriate relay component test.
Is the relay OK?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
INSTALL a new run/start relay. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
G2 CHECK THE RUN START/RELAY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Connect: Run/Start Relay.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure and record battery voltage.
- NOTICE: This pinpoint test step directs testing circuits using a backprobe method. Use the special backprobe tool specified in the tool list. Do not force test leads or other probes into the connectors. Adequate care must be exercised to avoid connector terminal damage while ensuring that good electrical contact is made with the circuit or terminal. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to wiring, terminals, or connectors and subsequent electrical faults.
Measure the voltage by backprobing between BCM (Body Control Module) C2280F-18, circuit CDC55 (BN/VT), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage equal to the recorded battery voltage?
Yes
REPAIR circuit CDC55 (BN/VT). CARRY OUT the self-test. CLEAR all DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to G3.
G3 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
- Disconnect: All BCM (Body Control Module) Connectors.
- Check the connectors for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect: All BCM (Body Control Module) Connectors.
- Make sure the connectors are seated correctly. Carry out the BCM (Body Control Module) on-demand self-test.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new BCM (Body Control Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
