Oil Pan: Service and Repair




Oil Pan - Lower





Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

2. Drain the engine oil.
- On late build vehicles, tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).

3. Remove the 15 bolts and the lower oil pan.
- On early build vehicles, remove and discard the gasket.

- On late build vehicles, clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.






Installation

Late build vehicles

1. Apply a 3.4 mm (0.133 in) diameter bead of sealant 1.0 mm (0.039 in) outward of the chamfer on the lower oil pan sealing face.





All vehicles

2. NOTE: On early build vehicles, install a new gasket.
Install the lower oil pan and the 15 bolts. Tighten in the sequence shown.

- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).






3. Fill the engine with the correct engine oil for the climate. Refer to the Engine Engine.
