Pinpoint Test E: The Cargo Lamp is Inoperative



Normal Operation

The cargo lamp is supplied voltage from the interior courtesy lamp circuit. Any time the interior courtesy lights are illuminated, the cargo lamp is also illuminated. The cargo lamp shares the ground circuit with the high mounted stoplamp.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- High mounted stoplamp

PINPOINT TEST E : THE CARGO LAMP IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

E1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE HIGH MOUNTED STOPLAMP

- Apply the brake pedal.

Does the high mounted stoplamp illuminate?

Yes
GO to E2.

No
REPAIR circuit GD137 (BK/WH) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

E2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CARGO LAMP

- Ignition OFF.

- Press and hold the instrument panel dimmer switch to the DOME LAMP ON (second detent up) position for 3 seconds.

- Disconnect: High Mounted Stoplamp C904.

- Measure the voltage between the high mounted stoplamp C904-3, circuit VLN33 (GY/VT), harness side and ground.





Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new high mounted stoplamp. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit VLN33 (GY/VT) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
