Pinpoint Test AJ: DTC U0184:00

Normal Operation

Some audio system modules receive network messages from the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN).

- DTC U0184:00 (Lost Communication With Radio: No Sub Type Information)- set by the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) when network messages are missing from the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) for more than 5 seconds with the ignition in RUN.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Communication network concern

- Audio system concern

- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST AJ : DTC U0184:00

AJ1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI (Programmable Module Installation) may not have been carried out.

- Operate the audio system in various modes (AM/FM tuner, satellite radio, SYNC, etc.) and observe the operation.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to AJ2.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring. CHECK the network wiring.

AJ2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.

- Carry out the network test using the scan tool.

Does the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to AJ3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

AJ3 RECHECK FOR DTC U0184:00

- Clear continuous memory DTCs in all modules.

- Carry out the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0184:00 still present?

Yes
GO to AJ4.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

AJ4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs

- Carry out the self-test for the following modules:
- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)

Are any voltage out-of-range DTCs recorded in any module?

Yes
REFER to DTC Charts. Information and Entertainment System
No
GO to AJ5.

AJ5 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Front Control Module) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect all the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new ACM (Audio Front Control Module). REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
