Pinpoint Test AF: The POWER REDUCED TO LOWER TEMP Message Is Inoperative/Always On
Normal Operation
The Instrument Cluster (IC) provides the POWER REDUCED TO LOWER TEMP message to the driver that the engine is overheating while reducing the load on the powertrain and lowering the engine temperature.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM concern
- Message center concern
- Engine cooling system concern
PINPOINT TEST AF : THE POWER REDUCED TO LOWER TEMP MESSAGE IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON
AF1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.
Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR?
Yes
GO to AF2.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test AA. Pinpoint Test AA: The Message Center Is Not Operating Correctly
AF2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded PCM DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
Are any PCM DTCs recorded?
Yes
DIAGNOSE all PCM DTCs first. REFER to the Computers and Control Systems Information.
No
INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
