Diagnostic Routine B
Diagnostic Overview
B124D:02
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Function .
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Inspect for customer electronic devices, such as cell phone chargers or GPS (Global Positioning System) units.
- Inspect for Non- OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) wheels or run-flat tires.
- Verify that the horn operates.
- Verify spare tire is not in use.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Special Tool(s)
Pinpoint Test
1. CARRY OUT THE TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) SENSOR TRAINING PROCEDURE
1. Connect the scan tool.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Using a scan tool, view and record the BCM (Body Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications):
- Left Front Tire Transmitter Identifier (TPM_S_ID_LF)
- Right Front Tire Transmitter Identifier (TPM_S_ID_RF)
- Left Rear Tire Transmitter Identifier (TPM_S_ID_LRO)
- Right Rear Tire Transmitter Identifier (TPM_S_ID_RRO)
4. Train all 4 TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors. REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Intelligent Access (IA) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Intelligent Access (IA) or REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT).
Did all of the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors train successfully and did the horn sound when each TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor transmitted to the BCM (Body Control Module)?
2. ATTEMPT TO TRAIN THE TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) SENSORS AGAIN
1. Starting at a different wheel, train all 4 TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors. REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Intelligent Access (IA) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Intelligent Access (IA) or REFER to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training - Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT).
Did any of the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors train successfully and did the horn sound when each TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor transmitted to the BCM (Body Control Module)?
3. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect all BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (replace connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - replace terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - replace pins as necessary
1. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
2. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
