Diagnostic Overview

The Roof Opening Panel Leaks

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

When the roof opening panel glass is completely closed, it should be aligned within specifications. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Alignment . The roof opening panel weatherstrip provides a seal against adverse weather conditions such as rain and wind, preventing them from entering the passenger compartment. A damaged, deformed or incorrectly installed weatherstrip is unable to seal the glass efficiently. The roof opening panel trough assembly and drain hoses provide a route for water to drain away from the opening panel, damaged or obstructed drain hoses or trough assembly will allow water to collect and possibly leak into the passenger compartment.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE ALIGNMENT OF THE ROOF OPENING PANEL

1. Check the roof opening panel weatherstrip for cracks, looseness and correct sealing.

Does the roof opening panel seal correctly and is the weatherstrip free from cracks and looseness?






2. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL DRAIN HOSES

1. Check the 4 roof opening panel drain hoses for correct operation. Make sure the drain hoses are not cracked, slit, pinched or obstructed.

3. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL DRAIN HOSE ATTACHMENT POINTS

1. Check the roof opening panel drain hose attachment points for correct attachment. Make sure the drain hose attachment points are not damaged or obstructed.

4. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL REAR TROUGH CONDITION

1. Check the roof opening panel rear trough for damage and make sure it is correctly attached.

5. CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE ROOF OPENING GLASS PANEL

1. Check the roof opening panel frame for damage that may cause the roof opening panel glass seal to seat incorrectly.
