Reversing Lamps - Automatic Transmission
When the transmission is in REVERSE, the TCM (Transmission Control Module) sends the selector lever (PRNDL) status message over the communication network to the BCM (Body Control Module) indicating the transmission is in reverse.
When the transmission is in reverse and the ignition is in RUN, the BCM (Body Control Module) provides ground to the reversing lamp relay coil (integrated into the BCM (Body Control Module)), providing voltage to the reversing lamps.
Reversing Lamps - Manual Transmission
The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) sends a voltage signal to the reversing lamp switch. When the transmission is in REVERSE, the signal is pulled low, indicating to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) the transmission is in REVERSE.
When the transmission is in REVERSE, the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) sends the reverse gear status message over the communication network to the BCM (Body Control Module) indicating the transmission is in reverse.
When the transmission is in reverse and the ignition is in RUN, the BCM (Body Control Module) provides ground to the reversing lamp relay coil (integrated into the BCM (Body Control Module)), providing voltage to the reversing lamps.
