Tire Monitoring System: Description and Operation: Overview
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Overview
The BCM (Body Control Module) monitors the tire pressure in the 4 road tires with tire pressure sensors that communicate the tire pressure via radio signals to the BCM (Body Control Module). The tire pressure sensors are battery operated and mounted to the valve stems. All of the controlling software for the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) is contained in the BCM (Body Control Module). The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) illuminates the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning indicator and the message center displays a message when a fault is present or when the tire pressure falls below the low pressure limit.
