Pinpoint Test G: DTC B1300, B1310 Or B2241
Normal Operation
The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) sends voltage signals to the door lock control switches (internal to the latches). When the latch is moved to a lock or unlock position, the corresponding lock or unlock voltage signal is routed to ground.
The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) contains internal relays that are energized depending on input received. When the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) receives a lock or unlock request from the door lock control switch, the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) energizes the appropriate relay(s) to lock or unlock the doors.
- DTC B1300 (Power Door Lock Circuit Failure)- an on-demand DTC that sets when the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) detects a short to ground on the front door latch lock input circuit.
- DTC B1310 (Power Door Unlock Circuit Failure)- an on-demand DTC that sets when the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) detects a short to voltage or open on the front door latch unlock input circuit.
- DTC B2241 (Rear Cargo Door Lock Circuit Short to Ground)- an on-demand DTC that sets when the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) detects a short to ground on the right rear door center latch lock input circuit.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Front door latch
- Right rear door center latch
- GEM (Generic Electronic Module)
PINPOINT TEST G : DTC B1300, B1310 OR B2241
G1 CHECK THE RECORDED GEM (Generic Electronic Module) DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST
NOTE: All three DTCs set during a self-test if the doors are locked. Make sure the doors are unlocked prior to performing a self-test.
- Unlock the front and cargo doors.
- Check the recorded results from the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) self-test.
Is DTC B1300, B1310 or B2241 present?
Yes
For DTC B1300, GO to G2.
For DTC B1310, GO to G5.
For DTC B2241, GO to G7.
No
For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts. Doors, Hood and Trunk
G2 CHECK THE LH FRONT DOOR LATCH FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: LH front door lock actuator C525.
- Clear the DTCs and run the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) self-test.
Is DTC B1300 present?
Yes
GO to G3.
No
INSTALL a new LH front door latch. REFER to Front Door Latch . TEST the system for normal operation.
G3 CHECK THE RH FRONT DOOR LATCH FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: RH front door lock actuator C609.
- Clear the DTCs and run the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) self-test.
Is DTC B1300 present?
Yes
GO to G4.
No
INSTALL a new RH front door latch. REFER to Front Door Latch . TEST the system for normal operation.
G4 CHECK THE FRONT DOOR LOCK INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: GEM (Generic Electronic Module) C201C.
- Measure the resistance between the LH front door lock actuator C525-3, circuit 31S-AA63 (BK/OG), harness side and ground.
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to G9.
No
REPAIR the circuit for a short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
G5 CHECK THE UNLOCK INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: LH front door lock actuator C525.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the LH front door lock actuator C525-1, circuit 31S-AA64 (BK/GN), harness side and the LH front door lock actuator C525-6, circuit 31-AA58 (BK), harness side.
Did the fuse in the jumper wire fail?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit for a short to voltage. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to G6.
G6 CHECK THE UNLOCK INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: GEM (Generic Electronic Module) C201E.
- Measure the resistance between the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) C201E-11, circuit 31S-AA64 (BK/GN), harness side and the LH front door lock actuator C525-1, circuit 31S-AA64 (BK/GN), harness side.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to G9.
No
REPAIR the circuit for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
G7 CHECK THE CARGO DOOR LATCH FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Cargo Door Lock Actuator C4120.
- Clear the DTCs and repeat the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) self-test.
Is DTC B2241 present?
Yes
GO to G8.
No
INSTALL a new right rear door center latch. REFER to Rear Door Latch - Center, RH . TEST the system for normal operation.
G8 CHECK THE CARGO DOOR LOCK INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: GEM (Generic Electronic Module) C201C.
- Measure the resistance between the cargo door lock actuator C4120-3, circuit 31S-AA63 (BK), harness side and ground.
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to G9.
No
REPAIR the circuit for a short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
G9 CHECK THE GEM (Generic Electronic Module) FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Disconnect all the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new GEM (Generic Electronic Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
