Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Pinpoint Test L: DTC U0155

Refer to Wiring Diagrams Set 118, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for schematic and connector information. Electrical Diagrams

Normal Operation

- DTC U0155 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IC) Control Module)- sets in the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) /Vehicle Security Module (VSM) if the vehicle speed or stoplamp switch messages that should be received from the Instrument Cluster (IC) are missing for 10 seconds or longer. If a communications failure is detected by the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module), the DTC U0155 is present in the module.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Network communication concern

- IC (Instrument Cluster)

- TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module)

PINPOINT TEST L : DTC U0155

L1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to L2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

L2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC (Instrument Cluster) Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the IC (Instrument Cluster) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to L3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

L3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module) AND
IC (Instrument Cluster) SELF-TESTS

- Check for recorded TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module) and Instrument Cluster (IC) DTCs from the self-test.

Is DTC B1318 or DTC B1317 recorded?

Yes
For the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module), GO to Pinpoint Test E. Pinpoint Test E: DTC B1317


For the IC (Instrument Cluster), REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

No
GO to L4.

L4 CHECK FOR DTC U0155 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear the DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: VSM (Vehicle Security Module) Self-Test.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0155 set in more than one module?

Yes
INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). TEST the system for normal operation. REPEAT the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module) self-test.

No
INSTALL a new TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) /VSM (Vehicle Security Module). REFER to Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.
